Workshop "Mutual events, occultations and dynamics of

natural satellites and asteroids"

The observations of mutual events and stellar occultations made in the past have shown their great interest as for physical studies as for dynamics. Mutual events of the natural planetary satellites occur during the equinox period on the giant planets and need a network of observers in order to be able to observe as many events as possible.

Then, we wish to organize a workshop dedicated to these observations:

  • the equinox on Jupiter and Saturn will occur in 2009;
  • Siberia is a large territory allowing to observe many events due to its size in longitudes;
  • the total solar eclipse of August 1, 2008 is an opportunity to focus the attention on occultations more scientifically useful.

This workshop wishes to gather professional astronomers and amateur interested by these events observable even with a small telescope.

The topics will be:

  • mutual events and occultation: the dates of the events and the periods of observation; the description of the events; the stellar occultations planned for the next years; techniques of observation and telescopes to be used; methods for the analysis and reduction of the data; scientific results to be deduced; results obtained in the past;
  • dynamics of natural satellites and asteroids.

Workshop "Meteoroid streams: dynamics and structure"

The meteoroid streams produced by comets and asteroids provide information on their parent bodies: their physical and dynamical properties, scenario of evolution. The most productive method to study the formation and evolution of meteoroid streams is mathematical modelling. To provide a good, reliable model we should have reliable information about physical and dynamical properties of meteoroids, estimates of incident flux density, orbits etc. So the methods of observations' processing take on special significance.

The topics will be:

  • meteoroid streams modelling;
  • meteoroid streams dynamics and structure;
  • methods of meteor observations processing.

Workshop "Informational systems in basic research"

The 2008 workshop will be the 6th in the series are holding by Special Astronomical Observatory (SAO) Russian Academy of Science. In 2008 year the Total Solar Eclipse which will be observable in Siberia clash with the traditional times of meeting. Taking into account this circumstance.
